Review policy – YouTube and Website

Due to a number of companies approaching us to review their products, we wanted to make our position clear on a few matters. We want to ensure that if you see a review either on this website or our YouTube channel, it is unbiased and has not been influenced by the company concerned in any way.

We want to ensure that our position is clear. We want to be transparent to viewers and to make sure that any company wishing us to review their products agrees to certain conditions before we even consider looking at their product.

1. We will perform reviews in a way appropriate to our viewers. Whilst we appreciate guidelines for carrying out a review, we do not agree to a review being performed in a particular way.
2. You will not be provided with a private link to the video before release, nor can you review the video. Our review will be honest and will point out both benefits and any flaws that we find. We will provide the public link on release.
3. In some cases, a review may be negative. We pride ourselves on honesty. If you provide a product that does not work as advertised or does not work as intended, we will be honest about this in our review. We will of course give you the opportunity to provide support to fix issues or to obtain important information, for instance, a software update that may fix a particular issue. Where possible we will make this clear in the review.
4. Any items that you send for review will be the property of Smart Home Addict Ltd. We will be free to use or dispose of the items as we wish, with no expectation of returning the product. The only exception to this is if we have already made a separate agreement for a review of, for instance, a high-value item. It is expected that any costs involved in returning products are met by the supplier.
5. We run this business part-time, therefore there may be a delay between receiving a product and the relevant review.
6. In most cases, we will expect payment at market rates for our time. Any payment received will not influence our review stance.
7. Where possible, we would prefer to carry affiliate links to the product, providing affiliate income to ourselves. We will not be providing affiliate links where another company is the beneficiary. If an affiliate link is provided that links another affiliate, we will replace this with our own. If you operate through an affiliate program, please provide details on how to sign up for this program.
8. Please ensure you provide as much detail as possible that will help users to purchase your product. If you operate a store on a platform such as Amazon, eBay, AliExpress or similar, please provide links to all variants worldwide so that we can ensure links are relevant to our viewers. Our audience is worldwide.
9. Where possible we will also provide product links and a summary of the review on our website at https://smarthomeaddict.co.uk. If you prefer a more extensive review on the website, please contact us for further details.
10. We reserve the right to add to, remove or change parts of this policy.
