Smart Home / Home Assistant YouTube channels to follow

I spend a lot of time researching for both this website/YouTube channel, and I’ve found a number of creators worth a watch. Some of these are UK creators, some US, and a small number elsewhere. Bear in mind that some of the products they review may not be available in your country or will look different (for instance, different plug standards).

This is my own personal list. None of the creators have asked me to add their channel, they’re only included here as I like their content. Feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments. Also this isn’t all of the people I follow, if you like this post let me know and I’ll post a few more recommendations.

First of all, it would be remiss of me not to take an opportunity to plug my own channel. There’s very little up at the moment but please subscribe. I’m currently filming and editing a few reviews and howtos, I’ll have these uploaded quickly. My channel is at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSklJkYzLNd0hZ-WBTD913g

First up is Paul Hibbert Tech. A watch of one of his videos will either have you laughing or confused (if you don’t get British humour). He’s very entertaining even though I think he’s wrong about Home Assistant. Dislikes Philips Hue and likes to poke fun at Jeff Bezos. Looks a bit like Jeff too – https://www.youtube.com/c/PaulHibbert

Next, Smart Home Solver. It’s run by Reed, who loves home automation and likes to use smart devices to solve problems – https://www.youtube.com/c/SmartHomeSolver

Tech with Brett is the next recommendation. It’s more of a general technology channel and he reviews a number of tech gadgets but has a focus on smart devices – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjMVmz06abZGVdWjd1mAMnQ

Everything Smart Home focuses on Smart Home, Home Automation and general tech reviews, guides and step-by-step DIY projects – https://www.youtube.com/c/EverythingSmartHome

DrZzs is a US creator who again is very into technology in general. He is very active in the Home Assistant scene and often his videos focus on using HA. Considered to be very knowledgeable. Often appears as a floating head in his videos – https://www.youtube.com/c/DrZzs

Automate Your Life focuses on home automation as a way to help make life easier. He often takes a project approach with the end goal always to automate things – https://www.youtube.com/c/AutomateYourLife

SlackerLabs is run by Jeff. He likes to ‘automate the boring stuff’ and has been in the game since at least 2014 when he bought Smartthings. He now concentrates on Home Assistant. Jeff explains things in plain English and is easy to follow – https://www.youtube.com/c/SlackerLabs

The Hook Up is a channel dedicated to the latest smart home gadgets and technology. The channel contains product reviews and tutorials related to smart home equipment – https://www.youtube.com/c/TheHookUp

Mark Watt Tech. Mark is very enthusiastic about Smart Tech and Home Assistant – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQRm_z7seHnGsBiWDNEWr6A

Will Surridge Tech – Will is also an up and coming YouTube creator with a focus on Home Assistant – https://www.youtube.com/c/WillSurridgeTech

BeardedTinker is also a good channel. He has a beard and loves to tinker. What else is there to say? – https://www.youtube.com/c/BeardedTinker

Smart Home Junkie has a great selection of tutorial videos and reviews – https://www.youtube.com/c/SmartHomeJunkie
